This documentary-style case study highlights the Tenderloin Community Benefit District (TLCBD), a San Francisco nonprofit working to keep the Tenderloin cleaner, safer, and more vibrant for residents, small businesses, and families. Drawing on years of nonprofit and NGO film work, the project focuses on how strategic video production for marketing can tell honest, hopeful stories that help attract funding, build trust with residents, and clearly show return on investment for community impact. Centered on interviews with staff, neighbors, and local leaders, the film uses a sensitive, trauma‑aware approach to interviewing marginalized populations—framing them as experts on their own experience and emphasizing the power of promoting leadership from within the community. Shot on location in the Tenderloin, the production uses a lean, mobile setup to work respectfully in busy streets while still delivering polished content for nonprofit campaigns, websites, and social media. This series of videos is designed as both a storytelling tool and a marketing asset for TLCBD—helping communicate the value of their work to community members, funders, partners, and city stakeholders—and as a portfolio sample of my approach to nonprofit video production, documentary filmmaking, and multimedia communications.
